About Discovery Learning Center (DLC) | Leading English Language School in Fort Lee, NJ

Discovery Learning Center (DLC) was established in 2004 by a team of experienced educators and administrators.

From the beginning, it was clear that a large number of students needed to improve both their spoken and written, English-language skills. To meet this need, DLC made the transition away from being a preparatory school to become an institute for the teaching and learning of English as a Second Language.

DLC is now located in a spacious, and well-lit facility in Fort Lee, New Jersey, offering a comprehensive program of communicative, English-language courses at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels to serve the needs of English language learners.

Discovery Learning Center is accredited by the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA) for the period April 2022 through April 2032 and agrees to uphold the CEA Standards for English Language Programs and Institutions. CEA is recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education as a nationally recognized accrediting agency for English language programs and institutions in the U.S. For further information about this accreditation, please contact CEA, 1001 N. Complaints Reporting:

Accredited programs and institutions are expected to continue to meet the CEA Standards during the term of accreditation. A student, faculty or staff member, as well as others outside the program or institution who may have knowledge of an alleged failure by an accredited program or institution to maintain the standards may file a complaint with CEA. Such a complaint must be filed in writing with the name, address and telephone number of the complainant on a separate page, and shall identify the specific standard(s) allegedly violated as well as a description of how the program or institution has failed to comply with it. Complaints may be filed at any time.

Discovery Learning Center (DLC) serves a diverse, foreign-born population for whom English is a second language. This institution strives to realize two primary goals:

Improve students’ ability to comprehend the English language

Provide students with both the vocabulary and grammatical structures necessary to become fluent in English.

Teaching Faculty

DLC faculty members hold at least a bachelor’s degree and TESOL (Teacher of English to Speakers of Other Languages) or other equivalent certificates. Our faculty members are committed to receiving ongoing training and endeavoring to fine-tune and improve their teaching approach. Additionally, they will listen closely to their students by reviewing the surveys done by their students. DLC conducts student surveys so that our teaching faculty may better understand students’ expectations and needs. The goal of our teaching faculty is to offer the most effective and efficient instruction to improve students’ learning curve.
